McLaren F1 and the Future of the McLaren F1 Team!

McLaren F1 team will be hoping to add another world title to the CV of Lewis Hamilton. After 10 years in the wilderness they will also desperately want to win the constructors title. Last time they won that Mika Hakkinen was at the wheel for the first of his two drivers titles. In that 10 years for Ferrari and Renault have dominated the championships, leaving McLaren consistently either second or third on the list!

Now that Lewis Hamilton has proven to be a winner at McLaren his chances of repeating his success for years to come are high to say the least. Even if his championship win was shrouded in controversy he still has the evidence procedure in place that he is able to win.

Allow me just to take a moment to define evidence procedure. This is basically the fact that you have achieved a certain task and therefore gives you the belief that you are able to replicate that task again. For example if you have a goal to win a race then once that first race is won winning your second race is not going to be as difficult because you have established the evidence procedure. You can now replicate that success instead of creating it from scratch, like you had to when you hadn’t won a race or the evidence procedure was non-existent.

With that in mind the prediction that Lewis Hamilton will win another championship grows stronger. He will undoubtedly outshine his teammate and continue to become the number 1 driver for McLaren. As the desperation of getting that first championship title under his belt has also disappeared he will become a calmer driver in fraught situations that will also contribute to his future success. Kovalainen didn’t experience a great first season with McLaren, and frankly with the calibre of their team I am surprised they retained him. It seemed as though he was frequently outgunned at the front with only one victory for the F1 08 season! He will only improve with his second stint at the McLaren. He has shown that he was a quality driver in the past and obviously this contributed to him being chosen however there will be pressure to perform for him this season or he could find himself searching for a drive in 2010.

One of the world’s most famous and innovative sports cars ever produced to this day, the McLaren F1 broke the record for becoming the fastest production car ever. Produced in the nineteen ninety eight, the car still holds the record of being the world’s fastest NA engine production car, although three other production cars have beaten the F1 at their all out top speed. The McLaren was a milestone in car production, with a top speed of two hundred and forty miles per hour.

An extremely light body, nearly aerodynamically perfect, the car can still compete with the performance cars of today even with a decade of technological advances since the F1 began production. The BMW six liter V12 was extremely powerful and produced over five hundred and fifty horse power. Whilst the car is equipped and designed for performance, and in fact has a race car edition which won the nineteen ninety five Le Mans, the interior was designed with usability in mind.

The doors of the car lift upwards, and are known as butterfly doors. The driver is seated in a certain position in the car, in front of the engine. Two passenger seats are located to either side of the driver, but further back. The very low weight of the McLaren was achieved by the use of light materials, such as carbon fiber, gold and magnesium. The aerodynamic ability of the car is another important factor in its success. The drag coefficient of the F1 is even superior to some of the fastest cars around today, beating the Buggatti Veyron and the world’s current fastest car, the SSC Aero.

The production of the car ran for six years, between nineteen ninety two and nineteen ninety eight. Between this time, one hundred and six of the cars were produced, with each taking three and half months to produce.

The McLaren F1 supercar is one of the fastest, most powerful and most expensive road cars ever. It was developed by McLaren Cars Ltd, a subsidiary of one of the world’s leading Formula One Teams. Much of the experience gained with the team’s F1 effort, combined with Gordon Murray’s motivation to make the best road car regardless of profits, helped the McLaren F1 become the car it is.
The car features a 6.1-litre 60° V12 BMW V12 engine and it was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car.
The McLaren F1 was the first production to use a complete carbon fiber chassis and body. Such lightweight construction, combined with the BMW S70/2, 620 horsepower engine, helped the McLaren achieve 240.14mph in its XP5 pre-production trim. The success didn’t stop on the road however, with special GTR versions winning Le Mans outright in 1995 and taking two FIA GT World Championships.
